This represents a drop in class for Punctilious who can get the better of Karliyna, Natalie Jane and Ruby Wine. The Godolphin runner contested the Lancashire Oaks at Haydock last time. She raced close up but was tapped for toe as soon as they quickened. This has happened to many of the stables' runners this season, but things are starting to look up and if she can return to her form of 2004 she will be very hard to beat. Natalie Jane and Ruby Wine finished ahead of the selection in that contest and so have obvious place claims here. Karliyna has a bit to find with Ruby Wine on recent running here, but has left the impression that she would be better suited by this longer trip. Autumn Wealth was most impressive when winning on her seasonal debut and looks best of the others, but we expect a much-improved performance from Punctilious, and this one gets the verdict.
