In depth

Verdict

Blindingly finished in front of Scots Sonnet when runner-up over track and trip on his debut but is giving plenty of weights to three-year-olds today, including John Gosden’s newcomer SEVERNAYA. The latter is the first foal of a Group 3 winner and, given the yard’s excellent strike rate at this venue, may prove good enough at the first time of asking and is preferred to fellow debutante Hikayah. Lizzie Loch could also go well and makes more appeal than the returning Menin Gate while Star Of Valour is another older horse to consider having switched yards since last year’s debut third in France.
