In depth

Verdict

Butterfly Bud can make experience count and is the pick over a whole host of newcomers including the likes of Supreme Charter, Taras Leader and Silver Nun to name but three. The market should definitely be watched here, but Butterfly Bud shaped well enough when fourth behind Mr Rooney at Beverley recently to warrant support today. The horse that finished third at Beverley, Bow Bridge, came out to turn the tables on Mr Rooney at Thirsk at the weekend, so the form is not too bad, and Nigel Tinkler's juvenile, who is related to plenty of winners, should be in at the finish. Mark Johnston is always to be respected in this sort of event, and so Supreme Charter should not be discounted on his debut, but on breeding he will come into his own over much further. John Quinn has done well in the past with the Taras inmates and as Taras Leader is a half-sister to several winners, she could be quite speedy. Silver Nun was cheaply bought, but the dam is a half-sister to the useful Golden Nun, so she is another to make a note of, but with a run under his belt, Butterfly Bud should prove too strong today.
