In depth

Verdict

Stargazer, a dual course and distance winner, has won from much higher marks but has run poorly the last twice. Solo Saxophone, eight times a winner shared between hurdles and the Flat, has only had one all-weather run and finished close up here. Spanish Kiss has looked a bit high since completing a soft-ground double but Raymond has won over shorter here and stays the trip. However, he could only finish fourth in the Northumberland Plate consolation race in June when MARGARET DUMONT finished second and the latter is taken to go one better even though she finished behind Monsieur Lambrays at Nottingham last time.
