    Verdict

HOP MADDOCKS has improved with every start and went close to catching subsequent handicap winner Militia over today’s trip at Thirsk back in May. David Barron’s charge gets the vote ahead of Dosc, a runner-up over 6f at Yarmouth in the same month. Hula Girl has placed in maiden company without threatening to win while the newcomer Thirlmere is speedily-bred but was withdrawn at Thirsk last month after acting up in the stalls.
