The versatile STYNES followed up a win over 1m4f at Brighton with a victory over hurdles at Exeter during the week. He should go close again in his current form, despite a hike in the weights. La Bacouetteuse will appreciate the return to 2m while Jan Smuts is usually thereabouts but is a rare winner nowadays. Northside Prince was behind the latter at Ripon back in May while Omid’s only success on the Flat so far came back in 2012, though he scored over hurdles during the summer. Motivate has been well beaten in all four starts but Sir Mark Prescott’s charges are always worth noting stepping up in trip.
