In depth

Verdict

Empire De Maulde has shown good progress over fences since last seen over the smaller obstacles and can race off an 8lb lower mark back over hurdles. Goobinator’s effort petered out in the closing stages at Doncaster and FOSTER’SISLAND makes more appeal. The latter is only 3lb higher than when completing a hat-trick at the end of last year and a recent third at Wetherby suggests another bold bid is likely. Nietzsche has a shout off his current mark but Seddon has lost his way since scoring at Lingfield in November.
