Verdict
Kristiansand, Mr Crystal and Spanish Conquest are the trio to look at here, with Mr Crystal given the vote in a trappy stayers' handicap. Kristiansand has only won once on the Flat, but is a consistent type and has won over hurdles last September. He may just need this first run of the year, but this is a weak contest and he cannot be discounted. Mr Crystal looks an improved performer judged on two hurdling successes this winter, and he finished off last Flat campaign with a sound second, staying on at the finish over a mile and thee quarters. This extra quarter mile looks sure to suit. Since scoring at Lingfield in October, Spanish Conquest has been an expensive failure, losing twice at odds on. Nonetheless the handicapper has done him no favours, raising him a further two pounds. Mr Cystal could be a clear cut winner.
