        Verdict

        This is the first meeting held on Newcastle’s new Tapeta surface and the opening race can go to STECCANDO. Alan Swinbank’s charge has been placed in all three starts to date and this longer trip should suit. He is also clear of Tap The Honey and The Magic Pencil on today’s terms but one of the newcomers may provide a threat. Gibbs Hill and Jetstream Express are both related to Listed winners in France and the latter has an apprentice’s allowance in his favour – the pair should be noted for any significant support in the betting.
