In depth

Verdict

Geryville finished ahead of SMALL PRESENT and Cash To Ash in the Lincolnshire National at Market Rasen on Boxing Day but the weights here favour Sue Smith’s stayer, who is overdue a first victory over fences. He finished sixth in the Grand National Trial at Haydock latest when Omar Maretti was pulled up having never travelled with any purpose. The selection’s stablemate Burrows Diamond is looking a little high in the weights and Bavington Bob is still paying the price for last season’s exploits. Donna's Double is preferred to The Ferry Master of Sandy Thomson’s pair and also the 14-year-old Blaklion.
