Verdict

A typically open sprint with a number of possibles but a low draw is generally an advantage and, with that in mind, Consensus is handed the vote. Mel Brittain's charge has shaped with a good deal of credit on both starts this term in slightly better grade and put up a particularly fine effort when not helped by a low draw at Ripon last time. Better drawn on this occasion and racing off a fair mark, the daughter of Common Grounds should be given another chance. David Nicholls can never be ignored in this type of event so Hawk, who ran encouragingly on his recent return on the all-weather, has to be feared while Zuhair shouldn't be far away if fit for his reappearance. Hout Bay has a favourable racing weight and shaped promisingly last time but Quantica needs more give in the ground and is best watched.
