Verdict

A field of seven assemble for the opener, with only Birikina having public form, a debut win at Hamilton. She will do well to defy a penalty for landing that newcomers affair at the Scottish track though and faces an uphill task against David Loder's newcomer Howick Falls. The American-bred has been well entered up over the next few weeks and has the Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy as his autumn target. he has been working well enough at home by all accounts to warrant support first time. Mark Johnstone saddles Waterstone, a son of Cape Cross who is closely related high-class sprinter Millstream, and he too can make his presence felt. However, Howick Falls gets the vote.
