Verdict

Despite the large turnout here, recent winner Tancred Times can follow up, with Columbine, Lady Protector, Aahgowangowan and Amused holding place claims. Tancred Times returned to winning ways at Thirsk 12 days ago, making all on the far side and holding on well. That was her first success since 2001 but she has dropped to a handy mark again and must be followed. She possesses more natural speed than Aahgowangowan, but Columbine does have a real turn of foot when he wants to use it and can prove troublesome. The dark horse here is Amused who runs in Roy Brotherton's colours. A half-sister to Bishop's Court and Astonished, she is inconsistent, but ran so well at Redcar last autumn that she must be kept in mind on this, her seasonal reappearance.
