Verdict

Next Edition was a very progressive juvenile ending last season with a fine run in a tough handicap here. He can surely do better than he showed on his reappearance when well beaten in a three-runner race. Golden Hinde won a Beverley maiden on his final start last season and though not going close in three handicap runs this term has been given a chance from this mark. Mcbirney looked certain to score again at Carlisle when moving up smoothly but the combination of softer ground and a 7lb rise proved too much and he's been raised another 4lb. Grams And Ounces began the year in poor form but has steadily improved and ran well enough behind Quanah Parker at Ayr to be considered for this but it's DOCTOR ZHIVAGO who gets the nod as he ran an excellent race behind Bahamian Music at Ayr a week ago and is on the same mark.
