      Verdict

      Samarkand is worth noting in the betting after three runs over shorter trips on the all-weather last year as the son of Sadler's Wells is sure to appreciate the longer distance. Defence Of Duress should also improve for the step up in trip after finishing a respectable fifth at York on his return, but HALIFAX is just preferred. He scored over today's distance at Lingfield in February, beating a couple of subsequent winners, and makes more appeal than stablemate Raucous Behaviour. Stansonnit and Oasis Storm will need to improve on their latest efforts to figure.
