      Verdict

      Courageous Duke looks to have a fairly straight forward task to get off the mark. He didn't quite get home over a slightly longer trip at Newbury, so this slight drop in trip should prove ideal. On official marks he has 6lbs in hand of Gig Harbor and a bigger threat could prove to be Chris Wall's filly Escenica, who shaped with plenty of promise on her second start last term at Redcar. There has been a couple of winners come out of that event and if she is fit enough to do herself justice, she should go close.
