        Verdict

Jun Fan, Pickering and Bid for Gold make the shortlist in this wide open affair, and Jun Fan is taken to go one better after a terrific run in defeat from a bad draw at Beverley last time. Pickering had subsequent dual winner Kings College Boy back in fifth when a very promising third on his reappearance at Pontefract and he should come on a lot for that solid effort. Although yet to win over this trip he has run well at this distance and looks a big player here off the same mark as last time. Bid For Gold has had a three week break since winning at Pontefract over this trip from next time out winner Dickie Le Davoir. He had hinted at that win previously, but off a five pound higher mark he may struggle to follow up in this competitive heat. A winner over this distance in April at Wolverhampton, Jun Fan has run two blinders in defeat behind Just Joey and especially on Tuesday when chasing home the previous winner Kings College Boy at Beverley. He was the moral winner, coming out of stall one -notoriously difficult at the Humberside track - and the pair finished clear of the remainder. Running off the same mark here, Jun Fan can double his winning tally from a well placed draw here.
