In depth

Verdict

Last year’s St Leger third Pyledriver returns to action and is clear at the weights. The return to 1m4f will suit the Great Voltigeur winner but the fast ground may not be ideal and SIR RON PRIESTLEY is preferred. The latter missed the whole of last year having finished runner-up in the 2019 St Leger but made a winning reappearance at Nottingham last month and is preferred to stablemate Thunderous. The latter ran nowhere near his best on his return having landed last year’s rescheduled Dante at York and steps up in trip while William Haggas runs two with the progressive Al Zaraqaan, a recent handicap winner at Kempton, preferred to Pablos Escobar.
