In depth

Verdict

Several have claims in this competitive 1m2f handicap including the reappearing Sarin, top weight Halawellfin Hala and the hat-trick seeking Start Over but the vote goes to Able Baker Charlie, who signalled a return to form when second over course and distance last month and is taken to go one better here. Halawellfin Hala showed improved form in a decent conditions race last time but he may have been flattered by that and Clive Britain's stable continues to struggle. Brilliant Red is facing an unequal battle against the handicapper at present but can be relied upon to run his usual good race, as can the consistent McBain. Sarin would have chances if fit enough after a nine-month lay off but Able Baker Charlie has plenty going for him and is the selection.
