    Verdict

The opening race at The Cambridgeshire meeting can go to Dalaram, the main danger being Singleton. The selection looks progressive and has won two of his last four races. From a late-developing family, he should have more to come. Fourth in the Queen's Vase during the summer, he comes here on the back of a win in a valuable York handicap. Admittedly, that came off a mark of 95, so more will be needed, but he could well be up to the challenge. That said, he has only a three-pound pull on Gold Medallist having finished seven lengths behind him at Newmarket's July Course in July, and also finished just over two lengths ahead of him in the Queen's Vase. Singleton is also very progressive, and already has a Group 3-placed effort to her name. She finished ahead of both Dalaram and Gold Medallist in the Queen's Vase so is the form choice. Hilbre Island has been running pretty well in decent company all year but needs to find a little more and Flying Wanda, two-and-a-half lengths behind Singleton in York's Galtres Stakes, also has claims. Overall, it's a pretty tight affair but Dalaram might just hold the key.
