Verdict
John Gosden's Buckingham Palace Stakes winner Demonstrate has twice disappointed off his current mark since that success and is probably best left alone for the time, although there were signs of a revival at York last time. Old campaigner Tumbleweed Ridge showed better form than of late in a classified stakes race here last time but he will find this tougher, as will Dani Ridge who won a similar contest over a furlong shorter at Chester a week ago. The David Nicholls-trained Hurricane Floyd gave the impression in the Ayr Gold Cup, behind stablemate Funfair Wane, that a return to this trip might help and with the stable of Peter Makin coming back to form Give Back Calais is not easily discounted. The one that gets the TEAMtalk selection though is Mr Mahoose. The William Haggas-trained four-year-old is difficult to catch right but, judged by the way he finished behind Millennium Force in Sunday's big handicap at Ascot, his chance should not be far away. Jamie Spencer again takes the ride and, granted a clear run, we think he can go one better here.
