Verdict

A trappy contest here and the tentative suggestion is Linda's Lad for the French, with the other four all having points of recommendation. The selection is unexposed as far as racing here is concerned and his trainer is no stranger to success on his travels. Admittedly he was well beaten in the Derby last year, but he will have matured since then, he looks as though he will get the trip in this grade and he can score. Sixties Icon will definitely get the trip as a Leger winner, though the ground is more of a concern with him. We can forgive his run at Longchamp last backend and he certainly has to be taken very seriously here. However, if it develops into cat and mouse then he looks vulnerable. Papal Bull's defeat of Red Rocks at Royal Ascot looks excellent in the context of this race and he will enjoy the ground, so he can go very close, while Admiral's Cruise loves the track but is now looking fully exposed and we will side with Linda's Lad for the French.
