In depth

Verdict

Maktub can beat Compton Bolter, with Let Me Try Again best of the remainder. Maktub takes a big drop in class after mixing it with Group company for the past two years, and despite not having had a run, the Michael Jarvis inmate should prove too strong for these rivals. Granted he has not won since scoring at the San Siro in 2003, but the form book does not lie and we shall side with him. Compton Bolter's fitness is assured but he did fade badly in the John Porter at Newbury, while Let Me Try Again was tailed off behind Risk Seeker in Group 2 company at Ascot last year. First Ballot returns from a successful spell chasing but will find it hard back over this shorter trip on the level, and really we are struggling to find one to match the selection which just has to be Maktub.
