Verdict
There can be very little doubting that Iffraaj has the potential to be a star sprinter this season and he is fancied to rise to the challenge of Soldier's Tale today. Galeota, Leitrim House and Somnus can be expected to throw down strong challenges, while Pastoral Pursuits does not have too much to find to get competitive now that he is dropped back in trip. Hughie Morrison has always thought very highly of the four-year-old and he rates as good each-way value this afternoon. Leitrim House proved he has the speed for six furlongs when winning a Listed race at Salisbury last month and he should not be underestimated. Cut in the ground would be a concern with him, though and his chance depends very much on the racing surface. Somnus can never be ruled out when he has his ground and it will be noteworthy to see how the betting market speaks about him. Galeota had Balmont a length and a half behind when putting in a brave effort in the Golden Jubilee Stakes last month and he can be a potent force here. As a three-year-old, he gets as handy weight-for-age allowance and, with a draw in stall 15 not expected to be a problem, he can easily make the frame again here. Soldier's Tale is in the next stall along and may well have the race run to suit on his side. Jeremy Noseda's charge is very much on the upgrade and will make this a very stiff test. However, Iffraaj really does look the real deal on what he has shown so far and he can stake his belated claim to become the group horse his talented trainer has always thought he was.
