        Verdict

        MONTSARRAT went up 6lb when he completed a double in a two-runner race at Catterick but was a bit unfortunate on his hat-trick attempt at Goodwood last week when impeded as he challenged. He's been raised another 8lb but is improving fast and can defy the extra. Maccus made a good impression on his debut at Windsor and was sent to Ascot for the Coventry Stakes but was well beaten. This is more his level while Easter Mate has been crying out for this trip and makes his handicap debut from a reasonable mark. Blue Humor has attempted to make all over 6f on his two latest starts and has run on when headed so there's no reason why this extra furlong shouldn't suit.
