Verdict
An impossible-looking handicap. Zoffee won the Northumberland Plate consolation at Newcastle last month and won over this trip earlier at Chelmsford but was only third behind Spirit Mixer at Salisbury before that. Hms President is a likeable sort who came back to his best at Goodwood last time. Midnights Legacy, twice a winner over hurdles in the season just gone, made a winning return to the Flat at Epsom but CANDLEFORD was very impressive returning from a break at Royal Ascot and he may well defy a 13lb hike in the ratings and confirm that form with third Contact and Trawlerman if that run hasn’t emptied the tank. Spirit Mixer and Summer's Knight are closely matched on Newcastle running and Dubai Welcome is worth a try over this longer trip even though there is little in his pedigree to suggest he’ll relish the extra. Sam Cooke is talented but quirky and can take a fierce hold.
