Verdict
Another race to look forward to and the progressive FORMOSINA is taken to improve again for this step up in trip and complete a hat-trick, while Emperor Hadrian and Klammer look to be the next best pair. The last-named could not quite go the pace when unfancied in the Coventry Stakes last time and perhaps even exceeded his 20/1 price tag with that performance. The way he stayed on suggested that the extra furlong will be ideal here and he looks very interesting. Emperor Hadrian represents Ballydoyle and is the most experienced runner in the field, having had five runs, including a win at Navan over 6f last month. Fast ground suits and he also may benefit from trying 7f for the first time, though he does look vulnerable. King Torus will need to improve upon his Chesham Stakes run if he is to prevail here, while it would be easy to knock Ecliptic for being gifted a race at Sandown last time when the likely winner got rid of his jockey, but he was still eight lengths clear of the rest and he is not one to underestimate. Even so, we prefer the claims of Formosina. Jeremy Noseda's colt impressed when dotting up in a Doncaster maiden and he followed up in this company in Ireland, where Ryan Moore had to be patient in waiting for a gap and his mount was value for more than the short head winning margin. With conditions again to suit and this trip opening up the potential to exploit even more ability we'll side with him.
