BAY WILLOW was good enough to beat older horses in Ireland last time and with a 6lb rise he will take plenty of beating today, while Strategic Mount looks very interesting off this mark, and the same goes for Pevensey. The last-named races from a mark 1lb lower than when scoring at Catterick last season. Trip and ground were the same as today and John Quinn's eight-year-old has run up a few duck eggs since in getting back down the handicap. He might go very well at a decent price. Strategic Mount has earned four of his five career wins over this trip and stays further. Fast ground is ideal, and although he has not won for almost two years, he is now 6lbs lower than that last successful mark and with Richard Hughes up he can go much better this time, also at a likely price. Bugaku has not yet prospered over this far, nor on fast ground, so he will have to show improvement to win it, while Times Up is very interesting now dropped to this distance and has claims. Speed Dating is entitled to get very competitive after being placed really well by Sir Mark Prescott to win three of his last six and finish runner-up in the other trio. His rise in the weights underlines that improvement and he won't be far away. Even so, Bay Willow looks to be the most rapdily-improving runner in the field and with conditions and trip ideal, the yard in-form, and Dettori up, we will side with him. Jonathan Doidge.
