In depth

Verdict

Von Blucher is an intriguing candidate, not seen since finishing fourth in the Esher Cup back in the spring but on a tempting mark here, although there is just a hint of suspicion that he hasn't always put it all in every time. He could be very well treated and is a likely saver bet. The choice though is SILENT ATTACK (NAP), brought along with typical patience by Saeed Bin Suroor and ready for this step-up in grade after impressing over course and distance last month. The other Godolphin contender, Hornsby, revealed a good attitude to oblige at Doncaster after a lengthy absence, can only improve and looks essential shortlist material. The greatly improved and admirably consistent Sir Roderic and the progressive Replenish are also noteworthy in an attractive contest.
