Verdict

Communique won last year’s renewal with Desert Encounter back in third though ran below par behind Alounak at Ascot on his reappearance. The latter was beaten by Desert Encounter in last year’s Canadian International at Woodbine where Old Persian also won a Grade 1 contest, though the Godolphin charge is fitted with headgear today after a poor effort in France. ENBIHAAR (NAP) was last seen finishing third in a Group 1 contest at Longchamp in October but had landed a hat-trick of Group 2 victories on fast ground before that and the lack of a recent run is not a problem for John Gosden’s mare. Last month’s Listed winner Antonia De Vega missed an engagement at Haydock last week while Dame Malliot had been progressing well before struggling behind the selection in the Park Hill back in September.
