    Verdict

Generous Thought makes more appeal than Red Alert Day and Alfathaa. The selection is partnered by Robert Winston for the first time and it will be interesting to see if the change in jockey results in a change of tactics as he has been given plenty to do from well off the pace on each of his last two starts. However, the turn of foot that he's shown on each occasion has been pretty taking and could be a potent weapon in this small field as he has a good enough cruising speed to stalk the leaders before being unleashed in the closing stages. This is his first attempt at a mile but he shapes as though he'll stay and has looked an exciting prospect. Red Alert Day has been a fine advertisement for his rookie trainer as he has consistently performed to a high level; sadly, for connections that level is short of top class and his options are limited given how high he is in the handicap. He ran another fine race to finish a length third in a similar contest at Newbury last time but may find at least one too strong again. Alfathaa was rated one of the likelier outsiders for the Guineas but ran to his price but did show a little more promise in the Hampton Court Stakes in first time blinkers; he raced keenly that day so the drop in trip appears to be perfectly reasonable and his yard could hardly be in better form. He's a player. Alan Devonshire is back at a realistic level following a tilt at the Derby and is not entirely without claims but of more interest is Choose Your Moment who may well have finished alongside the selection at Newbury but for meeting interference and beat all bar the talented Redford on his latest start at Doncaster. That form doesn't look too shabby now, he's progressive and appears versatile with regard to tactics which is handy in a small field but we believe that GENEROUS THOUGHT'S turn of foot will win the day.
