      Verdict

      MIGHTY ULYSSES failed to settle in the Derby trial at Epsom and is fitted with a hood. Entered in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Ascot, he gets another chance back over his winning trip. Devoted Poet placed over 7f here in October but I Am The Sea and Smart Contender will need major improvement on what they’ve shown so far to get involved. First Ruler is the first foal of the smart Zhukova and is a Godolphin newcomer worthy of a second glance.
