    Verdict

Midnight Oil looked a very progressive type when easily landing a Leicester maiden and there was obviously something amiss when he was beaten a distance on his handicap debut at Ripon. Star In Flight was also making his handicap debut after an easy maiden victory at Warwick when a close fourth at Ascot and is progressing along the right lines but Protaras hasn't been seen since beaten on soft ground at Catterick in November. Crassula landed a Kempton maiden in June and ran well enough in a slightly higher grade handicap over this C&D on her next start to suggest she is up to reaching a place here at least but it's NOBUNAGA, another who ran well here last time when a close second to the well-handicapped Full Speed, who gets the vote in a tricky finale.
