Verdict
This race has been dominated by Richard Hannon and RETAINER appears to be the stable first string ahead of Bilko Pak with Julius Geezer a fascinating opponent. The East Everleigh handler has supplied four of the last six winners of this race and three of them have been partnered by Richard Hughes who has elected to ride the Acclamation colt Retainer who is a half-brother to a juvenile winner over five furlongs amongst others. Bilko Pak is the first foal of a well bred maiden and can't be ignored and nor can Early Applause who is the first foal to spring from the loins of dual ten furlong winner Early Evening. Julius Geezer travelled to Ireland to make his debut last month and he was backed into favouritism only to trail home nearer last. However, that run can be forgiven as he looked to lose his race at the start when getting upset in the stalls and it would be no surprise to see him turn in a vastly improved performance. All the runners need a market check for signs of confidence but Retainer is an obvious starting point.
