In depth

Verdict

Kandahar Run is marginally preferred to Poet whilst Pegasus Again represents last year's successful stable and is better than he showed on his reappearance. The Henry Cecil trained colt is fairly prominent in the betting for the Derby following a taking performance on his final start of 2007. He had shown up well on his first two outings as well but it was that win in October that marked him down as a potentially top class performer as he won in a good time in taking fashion. Poet showed up well behind stablemate Jupiter Pluvius on debut and kept on well to make a winning return at the Curragh in March. He's open to any amount of improvement and has a raft of big race entries as one would expect given his connections. Campanologist showed improved form on his return when ahead of Pegasus Again and may well take another step forwards this afternoon whilst Redolent boasts the highest official rating in the field and should be all the better for his seasonal reappearance. Fascinating fare, Kandahar Run gets the vote.
