Verdict
An interesting race where Posteritas can give Henry Cecil a welcome winner on his home turf, with the biggest threat coming from Swagger Stick and the unexposed Into The Dark, who could be anything and is recommended as a saver option. Luca Cumani also holds a strong hand in the race with Lost Soldier Three, who is still open to improvement and will make plenty of appeal if there is a significant downpour before the off. Whereas Ganymede is another to bear in mind as he has done very little wrong in defeat this season. However, like a few of the rest, he does have a bit to find on balance and cannot be backed with supreme confidence as a win only choice. Neither can Art Trader, who despite hailing from an in-form yard, has to prove his fitness after a layoff, while Notable Guest was disappointing on his reappearance and may be best watched tonight. Which brings us back round to Posteritas, who has improved with each run to date. The fact that Cecil does not have the numbers that he could once draw from has helped him spend more time with the likes of the selection and he should make a bold bid to expand on the 17% strike-rate from the yard's three-year-olds this season. Into The Dark - a St Leger entry - is also worth factoring in as he shaped as if he has a bright future when winning on his debut. However, as Swagger Stick has already become a frustrating horse to follow, the mount of Frankie Dettori is unlikely to be the best value on offer. So a split-stakes approach could be the best bet for those unwilling to chance their arm with a reverse forecast including Posteritas.
