Verdict

Franklin D looked like winning over a mile at Sandown last month but was caught on the climb to the post by Mutamakkin. If ridden with a bit more restraint he'll take some catching. That winner is trained by Sir Michael Stoute, who has GRAND INQUISITOR entered here. He ran a fine race in the Victoria Cup at Ascot before caught in the closing stages on soft ground at Windsor so with conditions in his favour he looks the one to be on. Ifwecan is running well though he's 7lb higher than his victory in a Class 4 on soft ground at Goodwood. Firmament has done all of his recent racing on the all-weather and his lone success on Turf was gained on soft going.
