Verdict
Crackdown is the nominal selection in this maiden following an encouraging debut at Nottingham. Rileyskeepingfaith and Helpmeronda also ran well enough on debut to believe that they could figure. Mark Johnston's yard has engaged a higher gear in recent weeks and his Refuse To Bend colt can be expected to improve considerably from his debut outing. That Nottingham form has worked out well with the well regarded second winning next time and the fourth going close in a very warm maiden here; a few of those further back have also won for good measure as well. Rileyskeepingfaith ran well at Ascot and merits respect on that showing whilst Helpmeronda wouldn't need to improve too much on last week's fifth to be a factor in an ordinary maiden. There are a host of interesting newcomers to consider as one would expect but today could be the day for Crackdown.
