Verdict

Pike Bishop secures the nod for this valuable prize ahead of Yajbill. Although Pike Bishop's form figures looks ugly, it is worth noting that his most recent run came over six furlongs, a trip that looks patently too far for him. A very useful juvenile, this drop back to five furlongs should be right up his street and he should have the pace to burn off this small but select group. Yajbill is another with plenty of early pace but he will need to be on his mettle to give 5lb away to our selection. His best performances last term came when he was positively ridden. Expect to see more of the same tonight. Maltese Falcon once finished second in a listed contest at Deauville but has a mammoth absence to overcome. The market is cautiously inspected although it will take an amazing training performance to win this race first time up. Dragon Flyer is exposed at this level and would have been much better off at the weights if this were a handicap. Expect plenty of early pace here but we expect Pike Bishop to wrestle the spoils.
