Fran Berry may have split from Ralph Beckett but is still picking up some good rides and MERLIN can cap a great week for Michael Bell after the Gold Cup success of Big Orange. The gelding has proved amenable to front-running tactics the last twice and Berry can be expected to get the fractions right on the hat-trick attempt. Farook looks on a fair mark for his handicap bow after finally breaking his maiden and rates the danger, though High Acclaim would have claims at his best. King Of Paris is a possible improver but definitely needs to up his game in this grade.
