Verdict

Mark Johnston has won two of the last three renewals but Qaader finished behind runner-up Yazaman in the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood in July. The latter has subsequently placed again at Doncaster with Dark Lion behind and steps up in trip today while Ventura Tormenta also has something to prove over this far judged on an earlier effort on the July course here. But LA BARROSA made an impressive winning debut over today’s trip at Ascot with a subsequent winner back in third. Charlie Appleby’s charge should be competitive at this level with normal progress and gets the nod.
