Verdict

Double Aspect could have got in lightly here and is taken to beat the prolific Polar Jem and Barking Mad. Sir Michael Stoute's colt landed a Salisbury maiden back June, just doing enough to be Michabo by three-quarters of a length. As a result the handicapper has been lenient and with so much scope for improvement, he looks a good thing to follow up. Polar Jem won four on the bounce before finishing a close up sixth in the John Smith's Cup, this easier event will be more to his liking and he rates a big danger. Barking Mad hasn't run a bad race all season and deserved his recent success at Chester. Down at the bottom of the handicap Anna Pallida is also capable of going close, but Double Aspect won a shade cleverly last time and may turn out to be a lot better that his current rating suggests.
