Verdict

It will be interesting to see how Saeed Bin Suroor's Ashram performs on his seasonal reappearance having won a Listed race at Newbury last autumn prior to failing to justify market favouritism in the Challenge Stakes on his final start but the three-year-old RED JAZZ probably only needs to reproduce the form of his latest effort in the Jersey Stakes to win this and he gets the verdict ahead of Mabait. Luca Cumani's colt showed progressive form last term in handicaps and carried that improvement through to this season with a reappearance success at Sandown prior to decent efforts in defeat in when second in the Victoria Cup and third in the Group 3 Diadem Stakes. Any further improvement will make the son of Kyllachy the main danger to the selection. David Brown's Doncaster Rover deserves to get his head in front following some respectable placed efforts but he may have to settle for minor honours again. Marco Botti's Fanunalter was not disgraced in a Group 2 race in Italy last time and he has place claims, while Premio Loco is capable of taking a hand in the finish but is likely to struggle under his penalty. The vote though goes the way of the Barry Hills-trained Red Jazz, who has improved with each start this term and he can go one better than when narrowly beaten in the Jersey Stakes.
