      Verdict

      A tricky opener with LOST IN SPACE only a tentative selection. The Gosden runner took a step forward to get off the mark on Turf at Lingfield but has yet to race on anything but fast ground. Et Tu Brute wasn’t disgraced in this grade at Ascot but steps up a furlong and the likes of Zoffarelli, second twice at Windsor and sure to appreciate the extra yardage, and Last Sunset, who is making his Turf debut, have more scope. In Paradise won at Leicester and is only 3lb higher but Commonsensical is proving expensive to follow.

      Zoffarelli (IRE) 5-4fav (9-2) Mid-division in centre, headway tracking leaders halfway, stayed in centre over 2f out, ridden and went 2nd inside final furlong, strong challenge towards finish, just held, 2nd of 11, hd behind Hot Scoop (9-10) at Windsor 6f stks (5) gs in Jul.

      In Paradise 4-1 (9-5) Edgy loading, steadied start, held up in touch, headway far side of group chasing leaders 2f out, ridden to challenge inside final furlong, soon edged left, led final strides, won at Leicester 7f (5) gf in Aug beating Cider Apple (9-5) by hd, 8 ran.
