Verdict

An open maiden with perhaps short list material being Astronomical, Clueless, Salinja and Sandy's Legend, and we will take Clueless to produce the goods. The selection showed the best form on offer here when fourth to Red Admiral in a maiden over this trip at Yarmouth last time. Another few yards would have seen him finish much closer, as he stayed on well after getting the hang of things from a wide draw there, and he can put the experience to good use and take this. Astronomical will appreciate this step up to a mile after a decent effort over 7f at Salisbury last time. He should appreciate this faster ground much more than the soft on that occasion, and more is anticipated from Barry Hills's charge. Another who should be better for further is Salinja. Amanda Perrett's colt was not too happy in the mud last time and should also be seen to better effect on this surface. However, he has not quite achieved what some others have so far and he is opposed. Of the newcomers, perhaps Sandy's Legend could be the pick. John Gosden has a good strike rate with his juveniles this season and is having winners at present, so with Kerrin McEvoy booked we anticipate a decent performance, though he should come on a bit for it. Even so, we will take Clueless to provide the answer here.
