In depth

Verdict

Helford River returned from a lengthy absence to finish second to an odds-on favourite in a maiden at Uttoxeter. He’ll strip fitter today while a good run from Lapford Lad in the first division would be a pointer to the chances of Jessica Rabbit, who was just behind that one at Fontwell and then finished a close-up third at Stratford. Sue Gardner should have a good line on the latter, however, and HAVACUPPA had excuses when fourth last time at Uttoxeter having been in front when running out previously at Ffos Las. Waterlefe Getaway may be best of the rest.
