Verdict

A race little better than plating class and WELL MICK is only a tentative selection with Berkeley Court and Scotch Corner as the alternatives. The selection won a similarly moderate event at Worcester last time out when cheekpieces were applied for the first time. A rise of 7lb does not appear harsh and he realistically has little more to do on this occasion. Berkeley Court was moderate under rules but seems rejuvenated by a switch to point-to-pointing. A winner over three miles, he has few issues in relation to today's marathon trip. Scotch Corner was well punted at Southwell and almost consented to land the gamble. He had shown glimmers of ability with Nigel Twiston-Davies earlier in his career though its worth putting his recent run in perspective as he was rated 58 and now has to repeat the feat off a 10lb higher mark. Orchard House has looked difficult to win with though has taken on better graded horses in the past. Tosula is another that struggles to get her head infront though she should appreciate conditions today and has been given a helping hand by the handicapper. Howdy Cloud is better known between the flags though was far from disgraced on his handicap bow. Shergill is not without ability though has made crucial mistakes when it mattered most. Well Mick is the selection in a race of limited betting appeal.
