In depth
Verdict
The three against this bumper field have to be Motown Melody, Indian Chase and Renvyle, with preference going to the Charlie Tizzard-trained Motown Melody. The trainer's son Joe takes the mount here on the selection, who has been seen out twice so far, running well when second on debut at Worcester and then matching that running when third in a slightly better race over course and distance last time. The others will have to go pretty well to match that sort of form on what we have seen so far, and so Motown Melody is expected to put his experience to good use. Jonjo O'Neill runs Renvyle here and we must keep our eyes on the market to gauge the chances of the gelding. Just one outing at Tipperary so far told us little as far is this race is concerned, so with little to go on except his trainer's ability to get them ready to win fresh, we are pretty much in the dark and will have to rely on the money to tell us if there is any confidence behind the gelding. Of the remainder, Indian Chase put in a decent effort when second to Thorntoun Holm at Fontwell last time and on that performance, he might give the selection something to think about. He is clearly capable of further improvement, but so too is our selection, Motown Melody, who can break his duck.
