Verdict
Southerndown, who is lightly raced over fences, is a thorough stayer and will appreciate every yard of this trip. He is not one to trust the mortgage with but in a relatively soft race he looks to be the safest option. He had Laazim Afooz, Spanish Archer, Santella Boy and Primero all well behind on his latest start at Worcester and there is every reason to believe he can confirm the form here. Laazim Afooz has some reasonable form to his credit but has yet to prove he genuinely stays this sort of trip and would not be the ideal choice if this turned into a slog. Primero would have an excellent chance on his best form, including when mastering Daringly at Fontwell last year, but has looked badly out of form on his last two runs after falling at Fontwell in May.
