In depth

Verdict

With rain around this is not an easy race to assess, as most of the runners prefer top of the ground. One of those, Positano, has some form on the board on soft ground and so given that he is in form we will take him to beat Stoneyford Ben and Miss Lehman. The selection won over hurdles at Worcester on fast ground last time and Michael Scudamore looks to have placed him in a relatively easy opener to his chasing career, and he can take advantage. Stoneyford Ben took a fast ground Stratford handicap hurdle last month before running with some perit on his chasing debut last time. His experience will come in handy and he can make the frame. Of the others, Miss Lehman makes some appeal as one who has winning form to her name, although she could have been better treated by the handicapper, and we prefer Positano to take the prize.
